All-District basketball selections announced for northeast and central Missouri

All-District selections for northeast Missouri and adjacent central Missouri have been announced by the media, with four members of the Meadville Lady Eagles earning all-district status for Northeast Class 1, with MHS head coach Steve Carvajal named all-district coach of the year.

First-team Class 1 northeast girls selections are Madison Carvajal, Paige Carvajal, and Korrie Holcer of Meadville, along with Jaryn Hatcher of Green City and Kylie Brooks of Community.  Meadville’s Kinlee Fletcher was a second-team all-district selection, along with Lacey Fisher of Brashear, Peyton Beamer of Community, and the Novinger duo of Avery Carter and Kelsey Frederick.

Northeast Missouri’s Class 1 boys first-teamers include Green City’s starting backcourt of Asher Buggs-Tipton and Xander Salas, a pair that led the Gophers to the third-place trophy in the Class 1 state tournament earlier this month in Columbia.  The Gopher tandem is joined by Atlanta’s J.J. White, Brashear’s Carson Erwin, and Meadville’s Gauge Shiflett.

Second-team boys selections are Kaden Hatcher of Green City, Donivan Schreckhise and Mason Dennis of Meadville, Aiden McNeil of Bucklin/Macon County, and Mason Reed of Atlanta.  Matt Ayers of Green City was named the all-district Class 1 boys Coach of the Year.

A pair of Milan Wildcats were named Class 2 northeast Missouri all-district first-teamers, with sophomore Marian Dabney on the girls team and senior Ahmet Niasse honored for the boys.  while La Plata’s Claire Coy and Schuyler County’s Raina Small were first-team selections, with Small’s Lady Rams teammate Sidney Aeschilman, a future NCMC Lady Pirate, named second-team, in addition to Marceline’s Natalee Pennington.  Schuyler County’s Kale Windy was a first-team boys selection, with La Plata’s Tucker Beautte and Kendrick Hulett named as second-teamers.

Brookfield’s junior guard Hayden DeJong, in Class 3, was named an all-Northeast Missouri all-district second team selection.

Notables named All-District across central Missouri’s voting were Higbee’s Jaxon Hudson and Derek Rockett in Class 1 boys on the first team, in addition to Northwestern senior Landon Winn.  Keytesville’s Tucker Meyer was named to the second-team, along with Higbee’s Will Spilman and Brunswick’s Troy Zeilstra.

Higbee’s Lauren Spilman and Ronnie Welch were named Class 1 girls first-teamers, with Jaden Mauzey of Northwestern and Emma Stowers of Brunswick to the second team.

Salisbury’s powerhouse boys program was represented in Class 2 by first-team selection Cooper Francis, with Mason Stapleton and Hayden Wooldridge on the second team.  Kenny Wyatt of Salisbury earned Coach of the Year All-District honors.

Madison Prysock of Slater and Julia Sloan of Salisbury were named Class 2 girls second-teamers.
