Both the North Andrew Cardinals in Class 1 and the South Harrison Bulldogs in Class 2 are ranked in the Top 10 in the state of Missouri, however, their anticipated showdown for the Grand River Conference championship will have to wait, as the game in Bethany was rained out on Thursday night.

North Andrew, with a record of 13-3, is the champion of the Western Division of the Grand River Conference, with a resurgent South Harrison squad led by dynamite sophomore righty Hannah Carter, sitting at 14-4, ranked #6 in Class 2.  By virtue of each finishing in the top spot in their respective divisions, they will play for the GRC title on a date to be determined.

The GRC’s Maysville Lady Wolverines are 14-2 and ranked in a second place tie with 12-4 Platte Valley, both trailing the top-ranked 8-3 Canton Lady Tigers.  Vienna is ranked #4 in Class 1, followed by St. Elizabeth and Marion C. Early.  The Braymer Lady Bobcats, sitting at 13-2, are in the #7 position, with long-time rival Polo, having a strong season in the GRC, sitting at #10, just ahead of #9 Neelyville.  East Carter High School and the GRC’s Pattonsburg Panthers both are receiving votes, just out of the Top 10.

In Class 2, the Lewis and Clark Conference’s Fayette Lady Falcons are the top-ranked team in the state, with a mark of 18-1.  A conference rival in the Marceline Lady Tigers are ranked #5, with a record of 13-3-1.  Carrollton is ranked #4 at 13-2, with South Harrison at #6.  The second-ranked squad is Sherwood, followed by Russellville.  Iberia is ranked 7th, with Palmyra, New Bloomfield, and Monroe City rounding out the Top 10.

District competition in high school softball will be played the week of October 11th through the 16th.
