The most productive player on the 2021-2022 women’s basketball roster at the University of Missouri is leaving the Tiger program, as Aijha Blackwell, coming off of a season where she averaged a double-double, is joining LaDazhia Williams, Izzy Higginbottom, and Kiya Dorroh in announcing plans to transfer away from Columbia.

The announcements from Williams and Dorroh came Wednesday morning, followed by Higginbottom’s declaration that evening.  Meanwhile, Blackwell announced on Friday morning she would be departing, following a season where she led the Tigers with 15.4 points and 13 rebounds per game.  The St. Louis native will have two years of eligibility remaining at her new school.

Dorroh played as a reserve forward in 26 games in her freshman season for coach Robin Pingeton.  However, Williams, Dorroh, and Blackwell all ran into disciplinary issues during the season, with Blackwell suspended twice, once for a “violation of team standards” that had her sitting against Georgia, followed by a two-game suspension after she, along with Dorrah and freshman teammate Skylah Travis were cited by MU Police for alleged marijuana possession in February.  Williams, earlier in the season, had missed the Kentucky game due to a team standards violation.

Missouri slumped to a final record of 18-13, barely missing out on a NCAA Tournament bid, spoiling a promising start to the season that saw the Tigers burst out of the gate to a 13-2 record.
