Bulldog tennis falls in season opener at Savannah

The Trenton Bulldog boys tennis team traveled to Savannah on Monday afternoon, falling to the host Savages by a final tally of 8-1.

Trenton’s lone victory came in the #4 singles match, with Maverick Sole winning a battle of sophomores against Reid Courtney 8-4.

Two of Savannah’s singles wins came in an 8-0 sweep, with Cole Horton defeating Trent Villacampa (#1 singles) and Noah Gould upending Victor Markell (#5 singles).  Other finals were Evan Heftye over Bradyn Sager 8-2, Matthew Collier over Jonin Villacampa 8-4, and Cale Higer downing Tucker Otto 8-5.

In doubles competition, Savannah took all three matches over Trenton, although all were competitively played, with Horton and Heftye defeating Sager and (Trent) Villacampa 8-4, Collier and Courtney over (Jonin) Villacampa and Sole 8-4, with Gould and Higer combining for an 8-5 win over Markell and Otto.

Jacob Horton of Trenton, in JV singles play, dropped a pair of matches, falling to senior Cruz Donaldson 6-1, and freshman Samuel Whipple 6-4.
