Chiefs’ Pennel suspended two games

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Mike Pennel has joined teammate Bashaud Breeland on the suspension list, with the National Football League ruling Tuesday that Pennel will have to sit out the first two games of the 2020 season.

While the reason for Pennel’s suspension remains somewhat foggy, he did offer an apology for his actions via Twitter.

While with Green Bay, Pennel was suspended twice for violations of the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.  Pennel became more and more of a key contributor on the Chiefs defensive front-line as the 2019 Super Bowl Championship season moved into December and January.  While Pennel’s suspension will be two games, Breeland will have to sit out the first four games of the season.
