Chillicothe wins MEC golf championship

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets showed strong team balance in edging runner-up Maryville and third-place Savannah for the Midland Empire Conference championship on Monday afternoon.  Chillicothe shot 444 at the St. Joseph Country Club, with the Spoofhounds at 446, and the Savages at 448.  Benton finished fourth, with Cameron fifth, and Lafayette in sixth place.

Chillicothe’s top score, 100, was shot by Skyler Powers, good for third place individually, with that overall title going to Savannah.  Izzy Montgomery of the Lady Hornets shot 103 for sixth place, with Clara Leamer shooting 115, Abby Hayden 125, and Essie Hicks 136 for CHS.
