Chillicothe’s Kelow wins double-gold at state track meet

In the boys Class 3 state track meet at Jefferson City High School, Chillicothe’s Demarcus Kelow placed first in both the shot put and discus throw competitions.  Kelow scored all 20 Chillicothe’s final team points, leaving the Hornets in a tie for 12th place.  Westminster Christian Academy won the state title with 45 points, followed by St. Charles Lutheran’s 42.  Trenton failed to score points in the event.

Westminster swept the Class 3 team titles, with the WCA girls amassing 70 points to win the crown.  Eldon was a distant runner-up with 47 points.  The Cameron Lady Dragons were tenth with 24 points.  Chillicothe’s girls did not score.

Avery McVicker of Cameron was third in the 100 meter dash, fourth in the 200 meter dash, and sixth in the triple jump.  McVicker was also a member of Cameron’s fourth place 4 by 100 meter relay team.  Cameron’s other team points came from the 4 by 400 relay team that also placed fourth.
