Colorado coach Deion Sanders will miss Pac-12 media day due to medical procedures to remove a blood clot from his right leg and straighten toes on his left foot. Sanders, who is in his first year as the Buffaloes’ coach, announced the update on Instagram and is scheduled to have surgery on Thursday, with media day taking place on Friday in Las Vegas.

The school confirmed that Sanders will return in time for fall camp and expressed their best wishes for his speedy recovery. Sanders had previously undergone surgery for a blood clot in his leg a month ago, and he has been dealing with discomfort in his left foot since having two toes amputated in 2021 due to blood clot issues while he was at Jackson State.

In his Instagram post, Sanders assured fans that he will be back in action for Colorado’s opener on September 2 against TCU. Defensive coordinator Charles Kelly will represent the Buffaloes at media day in Sanders’ absence. Sanders’ son and quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, along with Travis Hunter, a transfer from Jackson State, will also participate in media day. Deion Sanders was hired in December with the goal of turning around the Buffaloes after a challenging 1-11 season in 2022.
