NFL

Former Las Vegas Raiders player Henry Ruggs has been sentenced to at least three years in a Nevada prison for a DUI-related crash that resulted in the death of a woman. Ruggs pleaded guilty in May to felony DUI causing death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.

The incident occurred in November 2021 when Ruggs was driving his sports car at speeds of up to 156 mph on a city street while under the influence of alcohol. The crash resulted in the death of Tina Tintor and her dog, and injuries to Ruggs’ fiancée and mother of their daughter, Kiara Je’nai Kilgo-Washington. Ruggs was cut by the Raiders after the crash.

During his sentencing, Ruggs offered a sincere apology and expressed his intention to counsel others about the dangers of driving under the influence and at unsafe speeds. He was sentenced to a three-to-10-year prison term.

The sentencing also included statements from Tintor’s family expressing their grief and the impact of the loss. Kilgo-Washington, Ruggs’ fiancée, was present in court as he was led away in handcuffs.

Ruggs’ case highlights the serious consequences of driving under the influence and the legal accountability individuals may face for such actions.
