Former North Central Missouri College point guard Kam Bevel, a first-team selection in 2022-2023 for Region XVI, has died, according to the William Penn University men’s basketball twitter account.

Bevel, a product of Confluence Academy in St. Louis, showed strong improvement in his sophomore year at NCMC, seeing increased playing time with his numbers increasing to an average of 14.4 points per game.  He started in 19 games while playing in 28 overall, becoming a consistent threat with his energy and athletic ability from the point guard position for head coach Jeremy Esry.

Few details have been made public as to the circumstances surrounding Bevel’s death.  Earlier this year, the former Pirate had committed to William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa to continue his basketball career with the Statesmen.  WPU’s tweet stated that Bevel was “tragically taken from us this past week in his hometown.  Kam was committed to us and had a bright future ahead of himself at WPU.  We would like to extend our condolences to Kam Bevel’s family and loved ones.  You are in our thoughts and prayers. #ForeverStatesmen”
