Former Trenton man receives award from Pro Football Hall of Fame

A former long-time New Orleans Saints head equipment manager, who spent time in Trenton during his youth, was the recipient of an Awards of Excellence from the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Simmons attended Trenton Schools through 1962, when his family moved to St. Louis after his sophomore year.  His father, Bill, taught and coached at Trenton Junior High School in the 1950s and early 1960s.

Dan Simmons, nicknamed “Chief”, worked 42 years in the Saints equipment department from 1973 through 2014.  After his retirement as head equipment manager, Simmons served as an alumni/legends coordinator, assisting in the Saints outreach efforts to involve former players with the organization.
