J.J. Watt, the former NFL defensive player, has signed a multi-year deal with CBS Sports to work as a studio analyst. CBS Sports President David Berson announced the news on Thursday.

Watt’s debut appearance as a studio analyst will be on “The NFL Today” during Week 1 on September 9. He will also contribute as an analyst for NFL shows on CBS Sports Network and various online platforms.

In a statement, Watt expressed his excitement about joining CBS Sports and working alongside the likes of JB (James Brown), Coach (Bill Cowher), Boomer (Boomer Esiason), Phil (Phil Simms), and Nate (Nate Burleson). He mentioned his love for the game and his desire to share insights and knowledge gained from his 12-year NFL career with fans, hoping to provide both informative analysis and enjoyable moments.

During his career, Watt was a three-time AP Defensive Player of the Year and retired after the last season. He spent 10 seasons with the Houston Texans, who drafted him 11th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft, before playing his final two years with the Arizona Cardinals. With 114.5 sacks, Watt made a significant impact on the field, and he is the only player in NFL history to record multiple seasons with at least 20 sacks. In addition to his football career, Watt and his wife, former U.S. soccer midfielder Kealia Watt, became investors in Burnley Football Club in May.
