Future NCMC Lady Pirate Payton Craig highlights Class 1 all-state softball team

Last week, North Harrison High School senior Payton Craig made her collegiate decision, signing with Steve Richman’s program at North Central Missouri College on Friday morning.  Craig, who helped lead the Lady Shamrocks to an HDC Conference championship and third-place finish in state, was one of four pitchers named Class 1 all-state first team.

Other pitchers on the squad are Canton’s Olivia Jarvis, Salisbury’s Bryn Wooldridge, and Pilot Grove’s Samarah Bailey.  Two catcher, including Josie Dean of Platte Valley, were named first-teamers, with Dean joined by Chaffee’s Bailey Wiseman.  Melanie Wolf of Pilot Grove is first-team utility.

Norborne’s Sydney McKinney was the only area player named all-state first team infielder, joining Chaffee’s Sydney Walker and Carlie Milz, Canton’s Laken Hugenberg, Abbie Klatt of Calvary Lutheran, Krysten Colvin of Dora, Jennifer Morey of Van Buren, and Jordan Garner of Van Far.

First-team outfielders are Morgan Parsons of DeKalb, Allison Binder of Salisbury, Bridgett Swinford of Chaffee, and Callie Pickrell of Naylor.

Cat Whiteman of the Maysville Lady Wolverines is a second-team all-Class 1 infielder, joining Salisbury’s Brooke Stefanewicz, Cairo’s Brynn Winkler, Sturgeon’s Lauren Mills, Pilot Grove’s Emily Schupp, and Clopton’s Kaitlyn Kuntz.

The second-team outfielders include Emma Thoeni of Norborne and Haleigh Miller of the Lewis and Clark Conference’s Knox County Lady Eagles, along with Morgan Shockley of Van Buren, Kara Harker of Vienna, and Makayla McAfee of Van Far.

The second-team pitching staff consists of Maya Street of Clopton, Kelsi Land of Dora, Jordyn Steffen of Vienna, and Kylie Wilhite of Chaffee.

Maysville had a pair of second-team all-state selections, with Brea Blanton one of three at the catching position, along with Hunter Collins of Canton and Amanda Braun of Calvary Lutheran.

Emma Craig of North Harrison was named all-state second team utility, along with Brooke Jackson of Van Buren.
