Gallatin’s Hemry shoots 100, 12th place midway through state golf

The Class 1 girls golf state championships are halfway done, with the first day of competition on Monday to be followed by the second day on Tuesday.  

Only two teams are in the Class 1 battle, with Sacred Heart’s 404 besting Brookfield’s 469.

Lilli Stallings leads the individual standings at 86, one stroke ahead of Caten Lucchesi of Sacred Heart.  Lawson’s Ellie Smith is tied with Centralia’s ReaLeee Smith at 88.

Area individual scores and place standings, through day one, are: Claire Hemry of Gallatin (100 / 12th), Demi Downey of Brookfield (101 / 14th), Tess Sheerman of Marceline (105 / 25th), Kayce Messner of Albany (106 / 29th), Abby Daffron of Plattsburg (108 / 31st), Hannah Riner of Maysville (109, 33rd), Elle Copple of Gallatin (112 / 43rd), Carly Clarkson of Brookfield (114 / 50th), Abbie Koenan of Putnam County and Laynie Swieger of Maysville (115 / 51st), Alison Allen of Princeton (118 / 58th), Kaley Smith of Brookfield (120 / 60th), Gracie Wilson of Albany (129 / 73rd), Justina Wimer of Worth County (129 / 73rd), and Avery Thompson of Brookfield (134 / 76th).

Chillicothe High School’s Hallie Jones shot 92 in the first day of the Class 2 tournament, good for a 22nd place tie with Samantha Backes of Blair Oaks.  Reagan Zibilski of Springfield Catholic shot 70, seven strokes ahead of Brooke Wagner of Logan-Rogersville for the individual lead.  Springfield Catholic leads the team chase at 329, with Tolton Catholic a close second at 332.

Class 3 team leader is Rockwood Summit’s 340, followed by St. Teresa’s Academy at 364.  Grace Claney of Ladue Horton Watkins is tied with Isabelle Thrall of Rockwood Summit at 80, followed by Lily Allman of McDonald County at 81, and Katherine Schreiner of Rockwood Summit at 82.
