Golf season concludes with second day of state

State championships were won by Cole Camp, Salisbury, Summit Christian Academy, Poplar Bluff, and Chaminade College Prep in the two-day MSHSAA state golf championships held statewide on Monday into Tuesday. 

In Class 2, Cole Camp won the state championship with a two-day score of 677, three strokes better than Willow Springs’ total of 680.  Trigg Lindahl of Hermann won the individual state title with a score of 149, eight strokes better than the 157 of Logan Jessen of East Buchanan.

Area scores from Class 2 included Riley Gott of Trenton at 173 (24th place), Cooper Clarkson of Brookfield at 175 (31st place), South Harrison’s Quinn Taylor at 176 (33th place), with South Harrison’s Caden Littrell and Trenton’s Kiefer Tolson at 180 (44th place).  Kaine Gibson of Carrollton shot 181, good for 48th place. 

The Salisbury Panthers won the Class 1 team title with a score of 670, with Rock Port in 5th place (717) and Maysville in 6th place (725).

Payton Strattman of St. Vincent won the individual crown at 146, with Jett Maasen of Linn runner-up at 153.  Gallatin’s Brody Bird, with a score of 159, finished in an 8th place tie with John McDaris of Hartville.  Marceline’s Lance O’Dell, with a score of 162, was 12th. 

Other Class 1 area scores were Gallatin’s Jack Donovan at 176, Maysville’s Maclain White at 177, Maysville’s Kayden Gabbard at 179, Milan’s Taylor Trenter at 179, Maysville’s Jace Harms at 180, Meadville’s Mason Dennis at 188, Maysville’s Eli Gaiser at 189, King City’s Nick Simerly at 193, Mercer’s Tyler Meinecke at 207, Maysville’s Bryson Jestes at 215, and Gallatin’s Connor Michael at 225.

Summit Christian Academy took the Class 3 crown at 590, 15 strokes better than Eldon’s 605.  Peyton Smith of Summit Christian shot 141 to win the individual title, with Chillicothe’s Jackson Trout in 8th place (146) and Cameron’s Brady Stice at 153 for a 21st place tie.

Poplar Bluff’s winning score in Class 4 was 595, with Hannibal’s Quinn Thomas winning the individual title at 143.  In Class 5, the state crown went to Chaminade Prep (587) with Bubba Chapman of Chaminade Prep taking a state individual title at 137.
