Cleveland State University guard Tre Gomillion is the latest transfer joining the basketball roster at the University of Missouri, with the Augusta, Georgia native announcing his decision on Monday.

Gomillion, as a graduate transfer, will have one year of eligibility remaining at Missouri.  Having played for Dennis Gates at CSU for the past three seasons, he is following in his Gates’ footsteps, with his coach making the move from the Horizon League to the SEC in March.

The newest Tiger started all 31 games for the Vikings in 2021-2022, averaging 10 1/2 points per game.  He is considered a strong defender, having been named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year in his junior season (2020-2021), when CSU won the conference championship and reached the NCAA Tournament for just the third time in school history.

Gomillion joins JUCO center Mohamed Diarra (Garden City CC), Milwaukee transfer DeAndre Gholston, and high-school recommitment Aidan Shaw of Overland Park, Kansas in Gates first recruiting class at Mizzou.

The recruiting success from the transfer portal continued on Tuesday, with Northern Iowa forward Noah Carter announcing a commitment to Mizzou via Twitter.

Carter is a 6’6″ 230 pound athlete who is choosing the Missouri option over offers from Arkansas, Florida, Virginia Tech, and Marquette.

With UNI in the 2021-2022 season, Carter averaged 15 points and 4 rebounds per game, as the Panthers won the Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship.

Both Carter and Gomillion visited the Mizzou campus and the basketball program run by Gates over the past weekend, with three other potential transfers also in that group, reported to be Cleveland State’s D’Moi Hodge, Bellarmine’s Dylan Penn, and The Citadel’s Jason Roche.

While an abundance of players are beginning to enter the Mizzou program, there were a number of players who announced transfers away from the program, many citing the firing of former coach Cuonzo Martin as a reason.  Of those, forward Javon Pickett will move on to St Louis University, announcing a commitment to the Billikens on Monday via Instagram.

Pickett averaged 11 points and 3 rebounds per game last season for Missouri, his fourth with the Tiger program.
