GRC announces all-conference softball selections

The Grand River Conference has announced softball selections for first team, second team, and honorable mention status for the eight-team Eastern Division, with the champion Polo Lady Panthers having a total of seven players honored.

Trenton High School junior Jena Harris was named as a first-team selection, as one of two players out of the 10 on the squad named without unanimous selection.  The other was Polo sophomore Mya Heil.

Eight players received unanimous selections to the GRC East first team, led by Polo junior pitcher Hanna Vaught and senior infielder Chloe Gilbert.  Others on the squad are the Princeton tandem of sophomore Addy Henke and senior Carsey Brown, Gallatin senior Presley Wells and junior AnnaBelle Ball, and South Harrison’s Kaliska Madison and Hannah Carter.

Two Trenton Lady Bulldogs were named as second team selections, in junior Madi Moore and freshman Kaylor Hodge, with others on that squad named as Polo’s Kendyl Fitzwater and Kenley Moore, South Harrison’s Lexi Hunter, Gallatin’s Ashley Feiden and Brynn Bird, Princeton’s Makenzie Dunkin, and Putnam County’s Jenna Knowles.

Named GRC East honorable mention were Polo’s Haley Barnett and Jade Misel, South Harrison’s Abbey Henry, Saige Bennett, and Cassidy Davidson, Milan’s Gracie Dickson, Emerson Pauley, and Amy Pickering, Gallatin’s Karydon Jones, Princeton’s Megan Spencer, and Maysville’s Bella Redman.

Polo went 7-0 to win the GRC East, then beat King City 12-2 in the GRC championship game.  South Harrison went 6-1, Gallatin 5-2, Trenton 4-3, Princeton 3-4, Putnam County 2-5, Milan 1-6, and Maysville 0-7.

Trenton, having lost to eventual champion Marceline 7-3 in the Class 2, District 6 semifinal round, was well represented in the All-District first team, with Madi Moore, Avery Clark, and Kaylor Hodge named first team selections.  Jena Harris and Mirena King were second team selections.
