The Lady Panthers of Grundy R-V scored five runs in both the 2nd and 3rd innings in running away from Winston, in a 18-4 HDC Conference victory on Tuesday night.

Makenzy Brown led the Grundy offense with a pair of RBI’s, while Zoe Littleton used her speed to steal seven bases for the visitors from Galt. Defensively, the highlight for the Lady Panthers came in the 3rd inning, when a double play completed by Hannah Garcia and Anna Milazzo helped Grundy escape from a half-inning that saw the Redbirds score three times.

The win improves Grundy County to 2-5 on the softball season, with the powerful North Harrison Shamrocks set to visit Galt for conference action on Thursday night.  North Harrison shutout Gilman City on Tuesday night, 15-0.  Mercer’s softball team had the night off.  The Lady Cardinals travel to Jamesport to play Tri-County in a non-conference game on Thursday night.
