HDC Conference announces postseason basketball honors

The HDC Conference has announced first-and-second team selections, honorable mention picks, coach of the year, and defensive team honors for the 2023-2024 basketball season.

Two members of the HDC champion Mercer Lady Cardinals were named first-team selections, with seniors Maddi Fisher and Emma Shipley both unanimous honorees.  The Mercer tandem is joined by unanimous selections Ava Langfitt of Gilman City, Karlee Crouse of East Harrison, and Kinsley Allnutt of Grundy R-5.

Second-team girls selections are Grundy R-5’s Adysan Rains, Tri-County’s Zoie Williams, Gilman City’s Laina Ward, Winston’s Reiann Hampton, and Mercer’s Ashlynn Brown.

Honorable mention girls are Gilman City’s Ericka Burke, Winston’s Shealyn Pliley, and Grundy R-5’s Molly Milazzo.

Dan Owens of Mercer was named girls coach of the year, with all-conference defensive team selections going to Emma Shipley and Bailey Houk of Mercer, Molly Milazzo and Landry Oaks of Grundy R-5, and Avery Gregg of Gilman City.

All five boys named HDC first-teamers earned unanimous selections, in Grundy R-5’s Corbin Axtell and Zack Cross, Winston’s Levi Youtsey, Mercer’s Tyler Meinecke, and Gilman City’s Landon Preston.

Boys second-team All-HDC picks are Grundy R-5’s Hunter Miller and Tate McClaran, Gilman City’s Camden Griffith, Tri-County’s Gabe Manning, and Mercer’s Brenden Wolfe.

Honorable mention goes to Mercer’s Wes Hashman and Kobe Hill, Winston’s Brayden Watkins, Keaton Norman of Tri-County, and Landon Willis of East Harrison.

Ty Stillwell of the HDC champion Grundy R-5 Panthers was named the conference boys coach of the year.

HDC All-Defensive team recognition went to Mercer’s Jayce Davis, Tri-County’s Gabe Manning, Gilman City’s Landon Preston, Grundy R-5’s Zack Cross, and Winston’s Levi Youtsey.
