Highly-hyped hoops season means more visibility for Mizzou, evident by SEC television release

Mizzou Basketball

The Missouri Tigers influx of talent on the court, and enthusiasm from the fan base off the court have combined for a much-more visible presence for MU on the national scene for the 2017-2018 season.  With a recruiting class led by highly-touted freshman Michael Porter Jr. and his younger brother Jontay, expectations for a Tiger surge up the SEC standings are surging across campus.  On Wednesday morning, the SEC announced start times and television designations for all of the 18 individual games to be played by the 14 member schools.

Highlights for Mizzou include two nationally televised games on CBS, with both at Mizzou Arena, as the Florida Gators visit in early January (January 6), and the traditional power Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, February 3rd.  The Tigers have not played on CBS since losing to Kentucky 84-79 on February 1, 2014.

Missouri is also scheduled to play seven games on ESPN (the second-highest rated college basketball network from last season), though those games could be later optioned to ESPN2. At least five SEC games will be played on ESPN2.

The Tigers played 12 conference games on SEC Network last season, but only four conference games are scheduled to be played on the channel this year: vs. Tennessee, vs. Auburn, at Mississippi State and at Mississippi.

The Tigers have yet to release their full TV schedule for non-conference games. The season opens Nov. 10 against Iowa State at Mizzou Arena.  Game times for SEC basketball games, involving Missouri, can be seen on the calendar section of KTTNSports.com, with pregame time given as the start of the broadcast.  Pregame for Mizzou basketball, on Learfield Sports’ Tiger Network, and local affiliate, KTTN FM 92.3, will be 30 minutes in length.
