One of the top recruits in the state of Missouri, four-star offensive tackle Andrew Sprague of Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Andrew Sprague, has given a verbal commitment to the University of Michigan, passing on the in-state Missouri Tigers, along with the likes of LSU, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, and Oregon.  Sprague announced to the Wolverines and head coach Jim Harbaugh on Friday.

Sprague cited Michigan’s recent success, with back-to-back Big Ten Conference championships and appearances in the College Football Playoff, as key factors in his decision.  The Wolverines have had recent success on the recruiting trail, with four-star running back Jordan Marshall of Cincinnati, Ohio highly-recruited quarterback Jadyn Davis of Charlotte, North Carolina saying yes to Michigan.  On3 currently has Michigan’s 2024 class rated #5 in the country and #2 in the Big Ten.

The decision from the Rockhurst product was part of a disappointing day for MU athletics, as St. Louis native Caleb Love passed on the Tiger basketball program, also choosing Michigan.  Love, a graduate of Christian Brothers College High School, averaged a career-high 16.7 points per game for North Carolina last season.  He is coach Juwan Howard’s third addition this offseason in the transfer portal for Michigan, joining Nimari Burnett of Alabama and Tray Jackson of Seton Hall.
