Resting Sarah Lamp in hopes of having the freshman forward ready for Thursday’s Region 16 semifinal against Penn Valley, the short-handed North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates lost their regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at North Arkansas College, 80-62.

Lamp, injured (strained MCL)  in the Lady Pirates loss to Northark on February 18th, sat out Saturday after scoring three points in Thursday night’s loss to St. Louis. With the rotation down to six players, McKinley Hurley, a sophomore guard from Trenton High School, had a 25 point afternoon, while adding 10 rebounds for a double-double effort.

Kendey Eaton and Jami Nickerson both had 12 points for the Lady Pirates, losers of three straight games heading into postseason play.

On Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock, the Lady Pirates, as a #2 seed, will take on #3 seed Penn Valley in the semifinal round of the Region 16 tournament at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.  That game will be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7, with the winner advancing to the women’s championship game, Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock against Penn Valley or Wentworth.  North Central’s women take a 20-9 record (6-2 in Region XVI) into postseason play.
