Eight area schools, including Trenton High School and Cameron High School, will play in the annual Lathrop Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, with five matches for all eight teams ending with a championship match in the late afternoon hours.
The teams have been divided in two pools of four teams each, with Trenton in “Pool A”, as the #8 seeded Lady Bulldogs play their pool play games on the north side of the Lathrop High School gymnasium. Pool A games start on Saturday morning at 8 o’clock, with Trenton battling Mid-Buchanan. The Lady Bulldogs get the next two matches off, as East Buchanan battles Plattsburg, followed by Plattsburg playing Mid-Buchanan. Trenton plays East Buchanan in the fourth match of the day, followed by Mid-Buchanan opposite East Buchanan, and Trenton playing Plattsburg.
Pool B will feature four schools, playing six matches against one another, on the south end of the Lathrop court. The 8 o’clock opener will feature Cameron against Orrick, followed by, in order, Wellington-Napoleon vs. Lathrop, Cameron vs. Lathrop, Orrick vs. Wellington-Napoleon, Cameron vs. Wellington-Napoleon, and Lathrop vs. Orrick.
The bracketed portion of the tournament will follow pool play, with the tournament split into a championship bracket of four teams, and a consolation bracket of four teams.
