Lawson clips Trenton to win district track title

Lawson edged Trenton by three points to win the Class 3, District 8 girls track and field championship on Saturday afternoon at Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe.  Lawson had 135 points, with Trenton a close runner-up at 132.  Cameron was third at 87, with Chillicothe fourth at 74 points.

For results involving Trenton and Chillicothe athletes:

Trenton’s Salem Croy was first and Sidney Lynch third in the javelin.  Trenton’s Maci Moore was first and Chillicothe’s Montana Hall third in the shotput.  Trenton’s Mykah Hurley was first, Chillicothe’s Jordan Hibner second, and Trenton’s Emma Curtis fourth in the long jump.

Trenton won both the 4 by 200 and 4 by 400 relays.  The Lady Bulldogs 4 by 200 relay squad was comprised of Lexi Whitaker, Lexi Gott, Chandler Lynch, and Kristi Ewing.  The 4 by 400 team had Ewing, Gott, Whitaker, and McKayla Blackburn.

Trenton’s Kristi Ewing was second in the 100 meter dash and third in the 400 meters.  Lexi Whitaker was second in the 200 meter dash and second in the 300 meter hurdles, with Chillicothe’s Kylee Larson third in the 300 hurdles.

Abby Jones of Chillicothe was second and Kendall Crowley of Trenton fourth, both in the discus.  Kylee Larson of CHS was second in the 100 meter hurdles.  Chillicothe’s Kennedy Corzette was second in the pole vault.

Trenton’s Maci Moore was third in the high jump, with Gwyneth Foster of THS fourth in the 800 meter run.

Chillicothe was third and Trenton fourth in the 4 by 800 relay.  Chillicothe’s squad was comprised of Emma Burk, Katelyn Sullivan, Kadence Shipers, and Delaney May.  Trenton’s team was McKayla Blackburn, Gwyneth Foster, Gracyn Rongey, and Morgan King.

Chillicothe’s 4 by 100 meter relay team was fourth.  Its members were Kylee Larson, Delaney May, Abby Jones, and Jordan Hibner.

Maryville won the boys Class 3, District 8 track and field meet at Chillicothe on Saturday.  The Spoofhounds had 133 points, second place Lawson 118, fifth place Chillicothe 86.5, sixth place Trenton 74, and seventh place Cameron 44 points.

Trenton’s Brian Ewing swept the sprint events, winning the 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes, while finishing fourth in the long jump.  Trenton’s Hayden Griffin was third in the 200 meters.  Chillicothe’s Kaleb Mullikin was third and Isaak Rasche fourth, both in the 400 meters.

Trenton’s Carson Burchett won the shotput competition.  Trenton’s Matthew Sibbit was third and Camdyn Leeper fourth, both in the 110 hurdles.

Chillicothe’s 4 by 200 meter relay team was first, comprised of Deon Reynolds, Kaleb Mullikin, Peyton Forck, and Isaak Rasche.

Chillicothe’s 4 by 400 meter relay squad was first, run by Ethan Corbin, Kaleb Mullikin, Peyton Forck, and Isaak Rasche.  The Hornets’ Rudy Yutzy was second in the pole vault, DeMarcus Kelow second and Luke Hopper third in the discus, William Perry third in the 1600, and Lavery Jones fourth in the 300 hurdles.

Top four individual finishers advance to the Class 3, Section 4 track and field meet on Saturday, May 18th.
