The Maysville Wolverines and Rock Port Blue Jays grabbed state championship tournament spots in Class 1 with top-two finishes on Monday in Class 1, District 4 competition at the Cameron Veterans Course.
The Wolverines championship score was 347, with Rock Port in second place at 359. St. Joseph Christian was third at 383, with Gallatin’s 387 good for fourth place. Kansas City Lutheran’s 388 completed the top five.
All players from Maysville and Rock Port will advance to state, with the cutoff line for the rest of the field set at 97.
Advancing to state locally are Gallatin’s Brody Bird in 2nd place at 80, one stroke behind medalist Tayden Cook of Rock Port at 79. Maysville’s top scores were Jace Harms at 81 (3rd) and Eli Gaiser, in a three-way tie for 4th place at 85. Gallatin’s Jack Donovan and Meadville’s Mason Dennis were part of a three-way tie for 7th place (with KC Lutheran’s Noah Walz) at 87, with Maysville’s Kayden Reid at 88, Gallatin’s Connor Michael shot 91, Maysville’s Maclain White at 93, Albany’s Lukas Angle at 95, and Mercer’s Tyler Meinecke, earning the final at-large spot at 97, tying for 19th place.
