Missouri men’s basketball will return to Kansas City for the first time in four years.

According to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, the Tigers are set to face Seton Hall on Dec. 17 at the T-Mobile Center. Details regarding the game time and TV network are yet to be announced.

This marks the first of two confirmed neutral-site games on the Tigers’ schedule for the upcoming season. The annual Braggin’ Rights game against Illinois in St. Louis has traditionally occurred around Dec. 20-23 over the past decade, with the exception of the 2020-21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Seton Hall finished the previous season with a record of 17-16 under the guidance of coach Shaheen Holloway, who is in his second season at his alma mater. Holloway, a former player for the Pirates, helped lead them to the Sweet 16 in 2000 and served as an assistant coach from 2010 to 2018.

The only previous meeting between Missouri and Seton Hall occurred on March 21, 1992, during the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In that matchup, the fourth-seeded Pirates defeated the fifth-seeded Mizzou team with a score of 88-71. Notably, this game marked the final collegiate appearance for Tigers point guard Anthony Peeler, who contributed 28 points.

Missouri’s most recent appearance in Kansas City was during the 2019-20 season when they participated in the Hall of Fame Classic. Unfortunately, the Tigers faced defeat in both of their contests, losing to Butler (63-52) and Oklahoma (77-66).

The Pirates were not the sole addition to the Tigers’ 2023-24 nonconference schedule on Wednesday. As reported by CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander, Mizzou has entered into a home-and-home series agreement with Minnesota. The Golden Gophers are slated to host the Tigers on Nov. 16 at the 95-year-old Williams Arena in Minneapolis. The teams will subsequently compete at Mizzou Arena in 2024.

During the previous season, Minnesota concluded with a 9-22 overall record and occupied the bottom position in the Big Ten with a 2-17 record under the leadership of coach Ben Johnson, who is entering his third season at the helm.

Historically, the Tigers have faced the Golden Gophers twice, resulting in two losses. The first encounter took place on Dec. 19, 1959, in Minneapolis, with a final score of 80-62. The second match occurred on Dec. 5, 1960, at Brewer Fieldhouse, resulting in a 60-56 victory for the Golden Gophers.

Mizzou’s nonconference schedule also features matchups against Memphis (Nov. 10), Pittsburgh (Nov. 28), Wichita State (Dec. 3), Kansas (Dec. 9), Central Arkansas (Dec. 30), Jackson State (TBA), and South Carolina State (TBA).
