Missouri women beat No. 25 Kentucky for 5th straight win

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) Sierra Michaelis scored 19 points, Cierra Porter made 11 straight free throws and scored 17, and Missouri beat No. 25 Kentucky 73-67 on Monday night for its fifth straight victory.

It is the longest winning streak in conference play for Missouri (16-7, 6-3) since joining the SEC in 2012. Kentucky (15-7, 6-3) lost for the first time in six games.

Kentucky’s Maci Morris came off a high screen and hit a long jumper, with a toe on the 3-point line, with 47.8 seconds left. She was fouled on the play and hit the free throw to pull the Wildcats to 69-62. But Porter iced it with two free throws on the other end.

Amber Smith added 15 points for Missouri and Sophie Cunningham scored 14.

Taylor Murray had 18 points, including 10 straight free throws, and 13 rebounds for Kentucky. Makayla Epps added 20 points and Morris 14.

Kentucky scored 11 of its 17 second-quarter points from the free throw line and the Wildcats led 31-30 at the break. Missouri was ahead 48-45 at the end of the third, capped by Cunningham’s drive to the basket after her defender fell down.
