Aidan Shaw, a 6-foot-8 senior forward from Blue Valley High School in Kansas City, has announced a commitment to Cuonzo Martin’s basketball program at the University of Missouri, choosing the Tigers over offers from Kansas, Iowa, Maryland, Oklahoma State.  Ranked #53 overall in the Class of 2022, Shaw is the highest-ranked recruit for the MU program since the additions of Michael Porter Jr., Jontay Porter, and Jeremiah Tilmon in 2017.

Shaw, the third-highest ranked player in Kansas according to 247Sports, is the second player announcing for Mizzou in this year’s senior class, joining East St. Louis (IL) guard Christian Jones, who committed to the basketball program in Columbia over the summer.

Next step on the recruiting want list for Martin and the Tigers is Mark Mitchell, a five-star forward from Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Kansas.  Mitchell has set to announce a final decision for the collegiate ranks, but Mizzou is in his “Top 4”, along with Kansas, Duke, and UCLA.

Turning to the world of football recruiting, Mizzou coach Eli Drinkwitz remains very much in play to get the commitment of St. Louis native Luther Burden.  Burden, who will play his senior season at East St. Louis High School in Illinois, is a Top-10 level national recruit who has announced Georgia, Alabama, and Missouri as his final three schools.  In August, Burden backed out of a verbal commitment with the University of Oklahoma, leading many to believe that Missouri had begun to sway Burden towards Columbia.  While that belief holds, Georgia is considered a big player in this recruiting race alongside Mizzou.  Burden officially dropping Oklahoma from his list was considered a mild surprise, considering the Sooners success in developing NFL level wide receivers in recent years.
