MLB seeks return to London in ’23, with Cardinals-Cubs probable matchup

After the coronavirus pandemic cancelled the 2020 trip to London for the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs, Major League Baseball is indicating that regular-season games will return to the British capital in 2023, 2024, and 2026, with the Cardinals and Cubs believed to be the leading candidates for games in 2023.

The rival New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox played the first-ever regular season games in London at Olympic Stadium in June 2019.

In announcing the planned return of MLB to London, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and London Mayor Sadiq Khan have announced formation of the MLB London Legacy Group, and plans for a Home Run Derby at London’s Crystal Palace Park on July 9, 2022.
