The 2013-2014 North Central Missouri College women’s basketball team and longtime athletics supporter Steve Maxey will be inducted into the NCMC Athletic Hall of Fame during ceremonies on Saturday, February 1st in Trenton.  The basketball teams will be hosting Region XVI rival St. Louis Community College in doubleheader action.

Maxey will be recognized during halftime of the women’s game and the 2013-2014 Lady Pirates will be acknowledged during halftime of the men’s game.

Sophomore Day ceremonies will be held between games for winter sport athletes.  A reception for Hall of Fame recipients begins at 2 o’clock in the Ketcham Community Center’s Sugg Room.

The 2013-2014 women’s team won the NJCAA Region XVI tournament by defeating St. Louis 77-64.  The Ketcham Center played host to the Lady Pirates 89-62 win over Arkansas State – Mid-South in the district championship game, sending NCMC to the women’s national tournament for the third time, that year held in nearby Overland Park, Kansas.

Two Lady Pirates, Samone Redditt and Kayla Oetterer, received All-Region XVI first team honors.  Redditt, a native of Independence, Missouri, was also named a 2nd Team All-American.

Steve Maxey has served as the long-time director of the NCMC Foundation sponsored High School Holiday Hoops.  Over the past 15 years, the event has grown from an eight-team field to an eight-day affair, bringing tens of thousands of high school student athletes to the Trenton campus.  Additionally, funds raised have supported Ketcham Center improvements.
