Brookfield hosted the Gary Ewing Invitational on Friday afternoon, with South Shelby winning a hotly contested girls division with 80.88 points, with less than one point separating the Ladybirds from runner-up Palmrya at 80. Macon was third at 73 1/2. On the boys side, Clark County dominated the day, with the Indians racking up 155 points. Newtown-Harris/Grundy R-V had a solid performance, finishing runner-up at 75.
Individually in the boys competition, Gauge MacGregor and Zack Cross of Newtown-Harris/Grundy R-V each took a pair of victories for their teams, with Tyler Robinson of Northwestern High School winning a pair of jumping competitions. On the girls side, Brookfield’s Samantha Sharp was a double-winner individually.
