NFL’s Final 8 set as Cowboys wallop Tampa Bay on Monday night

The Dallas Cowboys will travel to play long-time rival San Francisco on Sunday night in the NFC’s second round of the playoffs, after Dak Prescott threw for four touchdowns and ran for a fifth, in a 31-14 victory on Monday night at Raymond James Stadium against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  The Cowboys and 49ers will play one another Sunday night at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.  The 49ers advanced into the second round on Saturday with a 41-23 win over NFC West rival Seattle, with rookie quarterback Brock Purdy throwing for three touchdowns and running for a fourth.

In the other NFC second-round game, set for Saturday night, the #1 seed Philadelphia Eagles host long-time divisional rival New York, after the Giants won a high-scoring affair in Minnesota on Sunday afternoon, 31-24.  The Eagles, by virtue of the #1 seed, had a first-round bye.  Saquon Barkley had two touchdowns against the Vikings, including the go-ahead touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, while Daniel Jones passed for 301 yards and two touchdowns, while running for 78 yards in the win.

The Jacksonville Jaguars, after rallying to beat the L.A. Chargers on Saturday night by a score of 31-30, have a mid-afternoon date with the #1 seeded Kansas City Chiefs this Saturday afternoon at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals, after thrilling wild-card victories, will meet one another in Orchard Park, New York on Sunday afternoon.  The Bills beat Miami 34-31 on Sunday afternoon with the Bengals beating the Ravens 24-17 on Sunday night.  Buffalo is the #2 seed and Cincinnati, the defending AFC champion, is seeded #3.
