Missouri men’s basketball coach Dennis Gates has secured his second commitment of the week with Northern Kentucky fifth-year guard Marques Warrick announcing his transfer to Mizzou via Instagram on Wednesday. This comes shortly after the commitment of Iowa transfer guard Tony Perkins on Monday.

Standing at 6 feet 2 inches, Warrick brings an impressive resume, having been named first-team All-Horizon League while averaging a career-high 19.9 points per game in the past season. He boasts one season of eligibility remaining and holds the distinction of being Northern Kentucky’s all-time leading scorer with 2,246 points. Additionally, Warrick’s versatility is evident in his top-five rankings within various statistical categories for the Norse.

Hailing from Lexington, Kentucky, Warrick’s scoring prowess, coupled with Perkins’ adeptness in distribution and inside scoring, promises to bolster Missouri’s offensive capabilities. Warrick’s collegiate career showcases consistent scoring, including numerous 20-point performances and multiple All-Horizon League selections.

Warrick chose Missouri over USC, Seton Hall, Penn State, and Cincinnati, and now will join Perkins and Tennessee-Martin wing Jacob Crews as transfer additions to the Tigers. This trio collectively averaged 52 points per game last season, offering much-needed offensive firepower to a Tigers’ squad that faced challenges in consistent offensive production during the 2023-24 season that included a first-ever winless conference season.

Missouri may not be done adding transfer talent, as among potential targets are Duke transfer and former four-star power forward Mark Mitchell, as well as former Tolton Catholic (Columbia, MO) forward Jevon Porter, who garnered attention after his quality performance at Pepperdine. Additionally, five-star center Jayden Quaintance, previously committed to Kentucky, remains a prospect worth monitoring for the Tigers, having chosen Kentucky over Mizzou in the past recruiting cycle, prior to the decision of John Calipari to leave the Wildcat program for the opening at Arkansas.
