The University of Mississippi football program, upon returning to the campus in Oxford in early June, were immediately brought in for Coronavirus testing.  At that time, only one player and one athletic department employee tested positive.  However, that number has increased significantly at mid-month, as Parrish Alford of the Oxford Daily Journal reporting that the Rebels and now dealing with a dozen new positive test results.

A social gathering involving Ole Miss players may provide the reasoning for the increase in positive results.  The Rebels first game of the 2020 season is scheduled against Baylor in early September in Houston, Texas.
