Pirates blast rival Metropolitan CC to open Region XVI play

The North Central Missouri College, with their deep and talented roster playing their most complete game of the season, hammered the rival Metropolitan (Penn Valley) Community College Wolves on Wednesday night, 110-75 at the Ketcham Community Center.

In a game heard on Hot Country Z 101.7, the Pirates showed tremendous scoring balance, with 15 seeing playing time and 14 in the score column.  Sophomore Jordan Reece had 18 points, Soloman Thomas 16, Marty Jackson 15, and Quinan Rieves 14 for NCMC, now 9-8 overall, and 1-0 in Region 16 play.

North Central led 54-41 at the half, and opened up an insurmountable lead early in the second half, with Jackson scoring nine points in the first four minutes of the half.

The Pirate men have announced that the postponed game in Trenton against St. Louis Community College will be made up on Monday, February 11th.  The game will tip at either 5:30 or 7 o’clock.  If the game is a men’s game only, it will be at 5:30, if it is a women’s/men’s doubleheader, it will be a 5 o’clock (women) and 7 o’clock (men) tip from the Ketcham Center.  At this time, the reschedule date for the women’s game between NCMC and STLCC is not yet determined.

The January struggles of the Lady Pirates continued on Wednesday night, as North Central lost its Region 16 opener to Metropolitan, 105-80.  Former Richmond Lady Spartan Kaylee VanTrump led the Lady Wolves with 30 points, with Octavia Lowery scoring 26 points, while guard Maiya Randle came off the bench to score 20.  MCC is now 9-8 on the season, and 1-0 in Region 16 play.

The Lady Pirates, 6-11 overall, and 0-1 in Region 16 play, were paced by 18 points each from Maddie Book and Hailey Burrows, 17 for Da’Briauna Bables, 11 points for Dymeria Guillory, and 10 points from Megan Ernzen.

The North Central teams travel to Harrison, Arkansas on Saturday, playing a doubleheader against the North Arkansas Pioneers.  The women’s game tip at 12 noon, with the men at 2 o’clock.
