Polo held off a strong challenge from Grand River Conference rival Gallatin to win a district championship on Saturday, 2-1 in eight innings.  The win improves Polo to 23-0 on the season.

Hanna Vaught went all eight innings for Polo, allowing only two hits with four walks and 15 strikeouts.  Polo’s offense was held in check by Gallatin starter AnnaBelle Ball, with just five hits, as Ball struck out six batters while four walks were issued.

Chloe Gilbert had a solo homer in the first inning to give the Lady Panthers an early 1-0 edge.  That advantage held until the Gallatin 7th inning, when the Lady Bulldogs scored a run to tie the contest.  A sacrifice fly by Mya Heil scored the winning run in the 8th.
