The Princeton softball and football teams are headed into the first weekend of September trending in different directions, with one three games deep into Grand River Conference play, and the other, unbeaten through two games, hosting GRC rival Milan on Friday night on KTTN FM 92.3.

The Lady Tiger softball team has been playing decent softball to open the season, but have been frustrated by an 0-3 start to Grand River Conference play, with one-run losses to South Harrison (4-3) and Milan (10-9), and a “closer than the final score indicates” loss to Trenton. In that contest on August 24th, Princeton went into the top of the 6th inning trailing THS only 1-0 and was playing superlative defense, before the floodgates opened on the Tigers, with Trenton winning 14-0.

In between the conference struggles for PHS, the Lady Tigers did find a two-game winning streak this week, winning the 7th place game of the Albany Tournament on Saturday, then coming back with a 15-0 win over Mercer on Monday night.

It is “full steam ahead” for Thomas Hotmer’s Tiger football team, with two convincing victories over opponents from the KCI Conference (Mid-Buchanan and North Platte) in back-to-back weeks.  With the surge of success in 2016’s district play extending into the start of the football season, KTTN Sports Director Tom Johnson spoke with Coach Hotmer about the Tigers preparation for the Milan Wildcats.

This Friday night at 7 o’clock, Milan and Princeton begin Grand River Conference play against one another, with the game to be heard locally on KTTN FM 92.3, with streaming audio available from KTTNSports.com and KTTN on the Tune-In Radio app.  Pregame begins at 6 o’clock on 92.3 FM with “Football Frenzy”.
