Royals add minor league reliever Olson from Yankees, move Moustakas to 60 day DL

MLB

The Kansas City Royals have announced the addition of left-handed pitcher Tyler Olson to the 40-man roster, making room for the move by transferring third baseman Mike Moustakas to the 60 day disabled list.  “Moose” is out for the 2016 season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Olson, at AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, made 11 appearances and three starts this season, going 1-2 with a 5.27 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 27 1/3 innings.  He made one appearance with the  Yankees, twirling 2 2/3 innings of relief against Seattle on April 15th.

Olson was designated for assignment by New York on June 7th.  Olson will assigned to the Royals’ AAA affiliate in Omaha.
