On Thursday morning, the Kansas City Royals made several roster moves ahead of their Opening Day, placing four players on the injured list due to various injuries.

Michael Massey was placed on the 10-day IL due to lower back tightness. Massey had been dealing with this issue since March 19, causing him to miss the end of Spring Training. The Royals are optimistic that Massey’s stint on the IL will be short, and he should return shortly after the minimum 10 days.

Carlos Hernández was placed on the 15-day IL with a right shoulder impingement. Hernández had been sidelined since the beginning of Spring Training due to this injury. However, he had started throwing again towards the end of camp. He is scheduled for another bullpen session over the weekend, and the team expects him to progress normally to return to action by the end of April.

Jake Brentz, a left-handed reliever known for his velocity, suffered a left hamstring strain on March 17 during Spring Training. While he has resumed playing catch, his recovery from the leg injury is ongoing. The Royals anticipate Brentz being ready to return to action by the end of April or early May.

Josh Taylor, another left-handed reliever, experienced biceps soreness on March 17, which led to the discovery of a musculocutaneous nerve injury in his left arm. As a result, Taylor has been shut down from throwing until his biceps and upper arm recover. The timeline for his return remains uncertain, pending improvement in his arm’s condition.
