Softball district assignments announced for 2021

High School Softball Local Sports

The Missouri State High School Activities Association has announced softball district pairings for the tournaments to be played in mid-October.  Eight teams, including the Trenton Lady Bulldogs, will make up Class 2, District 6, with THS joined by Linn County rivals Brookfield and Marceline, along with GRC rivals Milan, South Harrison, Gallatin, and Putnam County, with the Penney Lady Hornets from Hamilton filling out the group.  Early indications from one week of regular season show the potential of a strong, very-balanced district, with Trenton having won two games in a row, Milan off to a 2-0 start, including a win at Gallatin, and South Harrison, Brookfield, and Marceline all looking stout out of the gates.

In the neighboring Class 2, District 5, the geographical front-print move toward northeast Missouri and the Mississippi River, with Clark County joining Highland, Louisiana, Mark Twain, Monroe City, Palmyra, and South Shelby in the seven-team field.  District 7 will lean toward the KCI Conference’s area, with East Buchanan, Lathrop, Mid-Buchanan, North Platte, Plattsburg, and West Platte of the KCI joined by Bishop LeBlond.  In District 8, Carrollton and Higginsville will be joined by Lawson, Lexington, Sherwood, St. Michael, St. Pius X, and Summit Christian Academy.

Chillicothe was placed into Class 3, District 8, with schools stretching from Kirksville to St. Joseph Benton and Savannah.  The other four schools in the district are Macon, Cameron, Maryville, and Richmond.
