Sporting KC builds needed MLS momentum with shutout of Loons

Sporting Kansas City put together its most dominant performance of the season on Saturday, shutting down Minnesota United FC 3-0 at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas. 

Kansas City took the lead on a Dany Rosero strike nine minutes into the contest, and added to the advantage on a goal from forward Daniel Salloi midway through the half.  Gadi Kinda put the game away with a goal late in the second half.

On Wednesday night, May 10th, Sporting’s run in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup ended with a 1-0 loss at Houston Dynamo FC.

In Major League Soccer competition, Sporting has won back-to-back games, with the effort against the Loons following an upset win at Seattle the prior Sunday.  Against Minnesota in the past six seasons, Sporting is an unbeaten 8-0-0 at Children’s Mercy Park, with an overall advantage of 22-2.

Next up for SKC is a match at reigning MLS Cup champion Los Angeles FC on Wednesday night at 9:30 with a duel against expansion rival St. Louis SC in the Gateway City on Saturday night at 8:30.  Both games will be shown live on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV, with the St. Louis battle airing nationally on Fox Sports 1.
