The Trenton Lady Bulldogs record of 20-3, and status as Grand River Conference champions, was strong enough to earn Brian Upton’s team the #1 seed for the Class 3, District 16 tournament, starting Monday night, February 20th at Lathrop High School.

Trenton, attempting to win its first district title since 2000, will open its postseason against the Golden Eagles of Bishop LeBlond, Monday night at 9 o’clock.  That game will be preceded by three other quarterfinals, with two on the bottom half of the bracket as #2 seed East Buchanan takes on Maryviille at 4:30, followed by #3 seed and host Lathrop challenging the Brookfield Lady ‘Dogs at 6 o’clock.

South Harrison, owner of the #4 seed, will play #5 seed Penney in a quarterfinal on Monday night at 7:30.  That winner advances to the semifinals, to play the Trenton/LeBlond survivor on Wednesday, February 22nd at 6 o’clock.  The second semifinal follows at 7:30.

The Class 3, District 16 girls championship game will be Saturday afternoon, February 25th at 2 o’clock.

As expected, the Trenton boys were locked into the #3 seed heading into district play, with two squads that the Bulldogs went a combined 0-3 against so far this season (Maryville and Penney) taking the top two seeds.  Trenton’s quarterfinal from Lathrop High School will be Tuesday afternoon, February 21st at 4:30 against the #6 seed East Buchanan Bulldogs, with the #1 seed Maryville Spoofhounds taking on Brookfield at 6 o’clock.  In the 7:30 boys game, #4 seed Lathrop takes on Bishop LeBlond, followed by the 9 o’clock tip between the #2 seed Penney Hornets and South Harrison.

Boys semifinals will be 6 o’clock and 7:30 on Thursday, February 23rd.  The boy’s championship game will immediately follow the girl’s 2 PM title tilt, at 3:30 on Saturday, February 25th.
