Coming off a season that saw strong improvement from a disastrous 0-8 season in 2020, the Trenton Bulldogs, with overall numbers in the upper 30s, are taking aim at the program’s first Grand River Conference football title since 2016, with practice for the campaign opening on Monday morning.

From going winless to winning five games of 11 contests, including a district first-round triumph at Brookfield, in 2021, Trenton returns a veteran core that includes quarterback Coleman Griffin and fullback Sam Gibson, while hoping to add splashes of Friday night talent from a group of underclassmen showing promise of immediate Bulldog success.

With practice #1 in the books, head coach Kevin Hixson spoke about his group, and the challenge of replacing last year’s senior class, with Sports Director Tom Johnson:

The Bulldogs will return to the site of last year’s season opener, and district opening victory, Burlington Field in Brookfield, to take on the Brookfield Bulldogs, on Friday night, August 26th.  THS, prior to the regular season opener, will travel to Carrollton for a four-team jamboree that will include the host Trojans, the Lexington Minutemen, and the South Harrison Bulldogs, on Friday, August 19th.  Trenton’s home opener will see the Lathrop Mules travel to C.F. Russell Stadium for Week 2 action on Friday, September 2nd.  Seven weeks of Grand River Conference action will follow for Trenton.
