THS volleyball loses three-set heart-breaker at St. Joseph Christian

The Lady Lions of St. Joseph Christian took a dramatic three-set victory over visiting Trenton on Monday night, with the Lions taking the third set over the Bulldogs, 27-25.  Christian had won the first set 25-21, before THS answered with a 25-22 win in the middle set.

The Lady Bulldogs have one last regular season match to go, before beginning preparations for next week’s Class 2, District 15 tournament in Higginsville.  Tonight (Tuesday night), Trenton will host Savannah at 5 o’clock, with the Lady Bulldogs only senior, Cassidy Trump, to be honored as part of the night’s festivities.

In the loss to St. Joseph Christian, Karli Provorse had nine digs, three kills, and three blocks for the Bulldogs.  Melea Farmer had eight assists and four digs, with Teresa Yoder adding seven digs, Shawna Coplen seven digs, and Saedee Jackson seven kills and six digs.

Trenton has a #2 seed for the Class 2, District 15 volleyball tournament, with only the MRVC East champion Lexington Minutewomen enjoying a first-round bye as the #1 seed.  In first-round action on Monday (October 16th), Trenton will take on Brookfield at 6 o’clock.  In the 5 o’clock match, #4 seed St. Paul Lutheran battles Carrollton, while at 7 o’clock, Higginsville takes on Penney High of Hamilton.

In the semifinals on Wednesday, October 18th, Lexington takes on the St. Paul Lutheran/Carrollton winner at 5 PM, followed by the winners between Trenton/Brookfield and Higginsville/Hamilton playing at 6 o’clock.  The semifinal winners play for the district title at 7 o’clock the same evening.
