Tigers stumble in loss to state-ranked Platte Valley in Albany Tourney final

Platte Valley jumped on an upset-minded Princeton squad with 27 first-quarter points on Saturday afternoon, taking a double-digit lead and cruising to a 77-49 triumph in the championship game of the Albany Invitational Tournament, broadcast live on KTTN FM 92.3.

In the first quarter surge, Platte Valley connected on six three-point field goals with a quick seven point run by Justin Miller, while holding a normally potent Tiger offense for nine points.  

The victory, improving PV’s record to 4-0, saw the #1 seed paced by 22 points from Alex Mattson, with Matt Jermain scoring 15, Memphis Bliley 14, and Justin Miller 11 points.

Princeton, falling to 3-1 on the campaign, had 18 points from Talan Holt, with Jaden Finney contributing 14 points and Clay Evans 10.

Platte Valley dominated the championship games at Albany High School, as the PV girls rolled South Harrison in Saturday’s first title tilt, 65-28.  

In the third place games, King City’s Lady Wildkats hammered Princeton, 56-26, while the Pattonsburg Panther boys took down Worth County, 67-51.
