Trenton girls finish 1st, boys 2nd, at South Harrison Middle School Relays

Trenton’s Lady Bulldogs scored 112 points to beat the 100 of runner-up Worth County and 81 of third-place Hamilton, while the boys dealt with team disappointment of just missing out on a championship, in Monday’s Middle School Relays held at South Harrison of Bethany.  The final totals in the boys event were South Harrison tipping Trenton 97.66 to 97 1/2 points. Gallatin was third with 70.66 points.

The TMS girls dominated the relay races, winning the 4 by 100, 4 by 200, and 4 by 400 relays.  Involved in all three winning relays were Lexi Whitaker, Kennedy Norton, and Shawna Coplen.  Maci Moore was on the 4 by 100 relay while McKayla Blackburn was on the 4 by 200 and 4 by 400 teams.  Winning times were 58.62 (4 by 100), 2:01.37 (4 by 200), and 4:42.00 (4 by 400).

Trenton loaded up on runner-up finishes, with Ann Airey in the 100 meter dash, Blackburn in the 400 meter dash and triple jump, Allena Allen in the 800 meter run, Maci Moore in the shot put, and Lexi Whitaker in the high jump all second.  Gwyeneth Foster was third in both the mile run and long jump.

For the TMS boys, Mark Trump (high jump), Carson Burchett (shot put), and Sam Schilling (100 hurdles) had first place wins.  Jose Valazquez was runner-up in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes.  Dalton Burchett was second in the shot put, while the 4 by 100 relay (Trump, Felix, Griffin, Valazquez) finished second.  Quentin Hughs was third in the 400 meter run.

Trenton Middle School will travel to Unionville to participate in the Putnam County Junior High Relays, starting 2:30 on Thursday.
