The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association has released its third poll of the 2016-2017 basketball season, and second since the regular season opened. The biggest changes in the poll are seen in Class 4 girls this week, where last week’s #1, St. Joseph Benton, after suffering a loss, dropped to #5. Last week’s #5 team, the Chillicothe Lady Hornets, moved up two spots to #3, while Carl Junction set up shop at #1.
In Class 3, there is no change to the position of the Trenton Lady Bulldogs, despite a 26 point loss at Chillicothe last Friday night. Noting the Lady Hornets stature in a bigger class, 7-1 Trenton is still #10 in the state. In fact, instead of sharing the #10 spot (like last week with Principia), Trenton has the #10 slot all by themselves this week.
Mercer’s girls, unbeaten after a Thursday night win at Tri-County, remains #3 in Class 1, with the Winston boys, at 8-0 at the season, remaining #2 in Class 1.
