The Lady Bulldogs of Trenton Middle School, with 100 points, clipped the 97 scored by runner-up North Platte, winning the team title at Monday’s St. Joseph Christian Invitational. Plattsburg was third (67 points), Maysville fourth (62), and St. Joseph Christian fifth (55).
For the TMS girls, Maci Moore was 1st in the shot put (35 feet) and Emma Curtis (14 feet, 10 inches) won the long jump. Two of the three relay races went to the Trenton girls, with Lexi Gott, Emma Curtis, Evy McCullough, and Gwyneth Foster running 1;59.41 in the 4 by 200, while Curtis, McCullough, Moore, and Gott ran a time of 57.17 seconds in the 4 by 100.
Moore was 2nd in the triple jump, Foster second in the 200 meter dash, while Haylee Coplen was 2nd in the pole vault. The 4 by 400 team (Gott, Rongey, McCullough, Curtis) also finished 2nd.
Gott was third in the high jump, with fourth place finishes for Janessa Van Hoozer in the 100 hurdles and Foster in the 400 meter run.
The TMS boys joined the girls as team champions, scoring 93 points to runner-up St. Joseph Christian, with 90.
First place finishes were earned by Austin Bouzek in the pole vault (8 feet), Chase Otto in the 800 meter run (2:27.02) and 1600 meter run (5:29.15), Quincy Griffin in the triple jump (32 feet, 7 inches), and the 4 by 400 relay team of Bouzek, Gavin Roeder, Otto, and Camdyn Leeper, in a time of 4:09.72.
Leeper was second in both the 100 meter hurdles and 400 meter dash, with Griffin second in the 200 meter dash. The Trenton entry in the 4 by 100 relay (Griffin, Tyler Siemer, Payden McCullough, Roeder) was second.
The Trenton Middle School track and field teams wrap up the season on Thursday afternoon, May 4th, hosting the Grand River Conference meet at C.F. Russell Stadium.
