Trenton rolls Brookfield, prepares for Tuesday test at East Buchanan

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs continue to knock down success barriers in the volleyball program’s best season in over a decade, sweeping visiting Brookfield on Monday night to move over .500 on the season, 25-15, 25-10.  A stronger test for Trenton is coming up tonight (Tuesday night), when Amanda King’s squad travels to Gower to face another 8-7 squad, in the East Buchanan Lady Bulldogs.

Against Brookfield, Trenton started strong in the first set, and held off a late Brookfield surge to take the 25-15 win.  THS was more consistent in the second set, and was able to utilize the program’s depth to wear down Brookfield and complete the two-set triumph.  Monday’s match from the Trenton High School gymnasium was broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.

Karli Provorse led the way for the Lady Bulldogs offense with eight kills.  Melea Farmer had six assists, and had a run of six points on serve to get the home team going early in the opening set.  Teresa Yoder added five digs, Saedee Jackson and Shawna Coplen combined for five kills, with Coplen adding six assists.

Gilcy Ando come off the Trenton bench to light up two aces with her jump serve, adding a dig and a pair of assists, while freshman Evy McCullough added three kills and an assist, mainly in late second-set action.

The Trenton JV won the opening match of the night, sweeping Brookfield 25-21, 25-10.  Brookfield, now 1-9 with a young squad lacking any seniors, hosts the Penney High School Hornets on Tuesday night, travels to Columbia on Thursday to play the Tolton Catholic Trail Blazers, and returns home on Tuesday, September 26th to host Concordia.

Trenton, after their trip to East Buchanan on Tuesday night, heads to first-year program South Harrison on Thursday, and plays host to archrival Chillicothe on Monday night, with coverage of the meeting between the Hornets and the Bulldogs on KTTN FM 92.3.

East Buchanan’s record fell to 8-7 on Monday night in a three-set loss to unbeaten LeBlond (13-0-1).  The Eagles got the better of the Bulldogs, 19-25, 25-18, 25-12.  Samantha White had a superb night at the net for East Buchanan with 16 kills.  Madison McCreary added 22 assists, and Alexis Livingston 21 digs.  Volleyball action from East Buchanan High School in Gower starts at 5 o’clock on Tuesday night.

Trenton’s opponent next Monday night, the Chillicothe Lady Hornets, lost in two sets at Marshall last night, 25-23, 25-15.  Elli Ross had 12 assists, Kylee Larson nine digs, Maggie Pfaff five kills, and Ruthie Vinson six points off serve for CHS.
