Trenton tennis wins at Lexington, to host Kirksville for Senior Night

The Trenton Lady Bulldog tennis team took a road victory at Lexington on Tuesday night, winning 7-2.  Next on the schedule for Coach Bobbie Hainey and the Trenton girls is their “Senior Night” dual with the Kirksville Lady Tigers on Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock.

Against the Minutewomen, the Trenton varsity won 4 of 6 singles matches, and swept doubles play.  At #2 singles, Lauren Dolan took down Clarisa Caldwell 8-3, Samantha Mihalovich (#3 singles) beat Chloe Caldwell 8-5, while at #4 singles Maddie Searcy took care of Sydney Lautenschlager 8-2, and Emma Gilham cruised to an 8-1 win at #5 singles (vs. Courtney Chaney).

Lexington’s singles wins came from #1 player Kristin Smith, 8-4 over Trenton’s Claire Utley; and at #6 singles, Ashley Menard over Elle Neal of THS 8-6.

In doubles play, at the #1 level, Trenton’s Utley and Dolan won 8-6 (over Smith and Clarisa Caldwell), Mihalovich and Searcy defeated Chloe Caldwell and Lautenschlager 8-3, while Emma Gilham and Elle Neal, playing at #3 doubles, downed Chaney and Menard in an 8-love sweep.

The Lady Bulldogs and Minutewomen played five junior varsity matches, three doubles and two singles, with Trenton taking four wins to Lexington’s one.  In singles play, Trenton’s Kennedy Wanstreet beat Emeli Morton of LSH 6-2, while Carly Wanstreet of THS won 6-love over Morton.

In doubles play, Kendall Crowley teamed with Latorrie Johnson for a 6-1 win over Lexington’s duo of Keely Terrell and Rebecca Bray.  Emily Bonta and Gwyneth Foster of the Bulldogs beat Shayanna Harrison and Hayley Griffin of Lexington 6-1.  Lexington got a 6-3 win from Terrell and Bray over Trenton’s team of Amanda Parrack and Bailea Jeannoutot.
